Captivated by Cowboys

Hi Everyone!

I would love to welcome to my blog today, my friend and fellow Crimson Romance writer, Leslie P. García. Leslie has dropped by to tell us about Crimson Romance's new, sizzling hot cowboy romance bundle, CRAZY FOR COWBOYS, 8 full length sexy romance novels to jangle your spurs.

ONLY .99 CENTS!!!

I'm so happy to have you today, Leslie. Before I ramble on and on, I'm turning my blog over to you.

Take it away, Leslie P. Garcia...

Do you remember the first time you fell in love with a cowboy? If you’re like me, when you were six or seven, you sort of had it all backwards—that is, you watched westerns for the horses, and fell in love with Roy Roger’s Trigger or the Lone Ranger’s Silver or Zorro’s Tornado long before you really hankered after the man in the saddle.

Clayton Moore as the Lone Ranger

But let’s face it—even the innocence of childhood is touched by an awareness that horses can’t feed and care for themselves—unless they’re wild mustangs. And even then, they need the kind of devoted protectors that the cowboys of our childhoods were, and little by little, as time crawled by—or maybe raced by—we began to notice the men in the saddles before we even looked at the horses.

Sadly, we found ourselves grown and looking for love. Happily, we discovered romance. And the men who tempted us to seek love—cowboys.

We love their independent spirits, their connection to the earth and the outdoors, their honesty and loyalty. Men who can go eight seconds on a bull, ten on a saddle bronc...and keep a woman happy a heck of a lot longer than that.

Other countries have cowboys—the huasos of Chile, the gauchos of Argentina, the vaqueros of Mexico. Yet who do women the world over lust after? Uh huh.

I’ll be the first to admit that romance writers might have contributed slightly to the cowboy fantasy—certainly cover artists have. As someone who spent a number of years in the cedar of the Texas hill country and the hundred degree brush country of south Texas, I know—I know—that few real cowboys go shirtless in broad daylight. They certainly don’t ride around just in boots, chaps, and hats, no matter how much some of us might wish they did.

But we portray them as we see them, I guess—and because of their courage, their dedication to their work and their women—their heart—we’re willing to allow them a few liberties in fiction. You know, to keep the legend alive and vibrant.

And, to further the legend, Crimson Romance corralled eight of their finest cowboy romances—the same full length novels that have already captured critical and reader acclaim—and bundled them together in a sensational collection priced at just .99!

I’m extraordinarily proud to have Unattainable featured in this bundle, along with fellow Crimson authors and cowboy lovers Susan Arden, Lynn Cahoon, Kathryn Brocato, Tommie Conrad, Dorothy Callahan, Monica Tillery, and Kristina Knight.  We’re all crazy for cowboys—and we hope you are, too.

Tempted by Trouble: Susan Arden
When a veterinarian meets her sexy new boss, temptation beckons as they work together to find a cure for his family’s dying cattle.

The Bull Rider’s Brother: Lynn Cahoon
Rodeo weekend in Shawnee, Idaho, brings the cowboy who got away back into Lizzie’s life. But when James discovers they have a son, can they get a second chance at love?

Unattainable: Leslie P. García
DEA Agent Jovi Treviño comes to Dell Rosales’ ranch to investigate the drug movement sweeping south Texas and unexpectedly falls for the woman everyone calls unreachable.

The Counterfeit Cowgirl: Kathryn Brocato
Cattleman Aaron Whitaker has no use for a flashy, brown-eyed, fake cowgirl in his life. So why is he attracted to his new next-door neighbor, fashionista Felicity Clayton?

Heart Trouble: Tommie Conrad
Life comes easy to rancher Brandt Connor, until he falls for Marissa Sloan who’s leaving home at summer’s end. Will Brandt let her go or become the man he’s meant to be?

Taming the Stallion: Dorothy Callahan
A riding accident left officer Raylie McPherson fearing horses, but investigating an animal cruelty claim at Ashton Lyre’s stables may just offer her a way to heal.

Kiss Me, Katie: Monica Tillery
When fiddler Katie McCoy joins handsome singer Blake Jackson on his Country Summer Nights tour, they are a match made in music heaven. But will fame destroy their love?

What a Texas Girl Wants: Kristina Knight
A little too much fun in the sun lead Kathleen and Jackson to wake up on a beach together . . . married! But will their one-night fling turn into the real thing?
Sensuality Level: Sensual

Excerpt from Unattainable

Dell stood up and walked over to the window, looking out for a few, silent moments.
Finally she sighed heavily and turned back around. “I suppose we need to talk about a sale, then. But not today.” Her lips twisted in a wry smile. “I have to make peace with the idea first, I guess.” She came back again and sat down. “Tell me something, Jovi...how big a stickler are you for job descriptions and doing only what you were hired to do?”

He arched an eyebrow. “I don’t know. Why?”

“How are you at carne asada?”

He blinked, then grinned. “The best, naturally. I wasn’t away that long!”

“Good.” She plucked absently at the eyelet blouse she was wearing, removing
invisible lint. He couldn’t look away.

“These girls have lost so much—all of them have either left or been taken away from their families.” Emotion came and went in her eyes as she spoke. “Amy was telling me the other day that the thing she missed most was the Sunday carne asada—the family getting together—even the smell of the smoke, she said. I can’t give it all back, but I thought we might try to reproduce some of it.”

“Fine with me.” He leaned back a little and idly tapped the desk.

“I could do it,” she continued seriously. But Jovi, you remember carne asadas in these parts, right?”

He nodded. “Alcohol, music, and fighting, too often.”

“I want something better than that for the girls. A good time without the bad thrown in.”

“So I come in because…?”

“You can cook the meat,” she said immediately, “while I chaperone.”

Jovi gazed across the desk at her, straightening in his chair. This was an unwelcome situation. There was an intimacy about a carne asada—friends had carne asadas. And families. He was the last person she could trust, even if she didn’t know that. Yet. He couldn’t have hidden his irritation. She looked startled by his abrupt change in demeanor, and then the impenetrable air of calm and distance settled back around her. “Is something wrong?” she asked. “If you’d rather not, don’t feel obligated—”

“There’s no problem,” he answered. “Just don’t expect miracles, Dell. Those girls are tough cookies, deep down.”

Dell stood, her own annoyance undisguised. “I don’t expect miracles, Jovani,” she retorted. “I’m not that naïve. But the girls aren’t nearly as tough as you think.” She cast a quick glance at the clock on the office wall. “I thought we’d start around five.” She turned toward the door then stopped to look back over her shoulder. “I’ll let you know about the horses within the week.” Her tone was dismissive, boss to employee.

Good. Better that way, he reminded himself brusquely. Because at best, Dell was just his boss. And at worst…at worst, she was the woman he’d destroy. Soon.

  2. Leslie, I agree with your assessment about our first loves being the horses, then, with the passage of time, we come to appreciate the cowboys, too. I loved your novel, Unattainable, and your hero and heroine, Jovi and Dell, and all of the animals depicted within. I'll never forget that novel! I'm anxious to read the other books in the bundle. What a great bargain! May you reach bestseller status!

  3. Joanna and Deborah, thank you so much for visiting and for your kind words. I really appreciate Nancy inviting me to drop by. The picture of the original Lone Ranger and Silver brought back memories, didn't it?

    1. OH, and then some, Leslie! I had such a crush on all the great horsemen, like Adam Cartwright, Lucas McCain and James Drury. I wish someone in Hollywood would take a chance and start making new great westerns.
