HOW I KEEP IT REAL: GOALS FOR AN EXCITING NEW YEAR

Happy Saturday, Everyone!

I hope your week has been a good one and you're off making 2016 your best year yet. I have high hopes for this year. I don't make resolutions, but I do try to outline a few goals for myself. And if you share your goals with others, then they are more likely to be met because you now are accountable to those goals. So here are my writing and life goals for 2016:

  • Get my health back on track!
The last months of 2015 were rough and totally unexpected. My strength and happy disposition took a beating. While I still have little control over the healing process [other than doing everything my doctors tell me to do] I do control my disposition.

What you think, you become.

What you feel, you attract.
What you imagine, you create.

  • I'm going to finish the first book of my new series: working title: Marked by Visions by March.
This story has been living in my head for several months. I put it aside to write my first novella, HIS ONE WISH--the fourth book in Modern Magic: A Quartet of Fractured Fairy Tales. It was a little hard picking it back up.  Well, it's time Emersyn D'Azzo and Alec Pearce found their happy-ever-after and it's up to me to give it to them.

  • My third big goal is to complete the second book in my new series.
This goal is a little daunting. While I know who my hero and heroine are going to be, I haven't met them yet. As a writer, character development is my most important step in creating a new novel. I have to know everything about my characters: professions, personalities, likes/dislikes, mannerisms, quirks, dispositions, strengths/weakness. They become real to me and spend hours talking to me inside my head. There is also this thing that happens in every new project. My characters have a way of taking over the story. I know them so well by that point, I go with the flow because that is when magic happens. My goal is to have this book ready for you to read by the end of the year. Wish me luck!

  • My final goal for 2016 is huge. I'm going to find a better balance between my writing and my personal life.
This goal is going to be the toughest to achieve. I love everything about writing. As an author, I must write or my readers will forget I exist. But somewhere in the last 3 years, I have forgotten how to let everything go and enjoy myself. When I'm out with family and friends, I can't help feeling guilty about my poor daily word count on my new project or how I'm going to re-work a scene that has fallen flat. It's never ending and that has got to stop. I haven't figured out how I'm going to do this just yet, but the year is still young. If you have any advice to share, I would sure love to hear it. How do you balance your life?

Now, for other news that's happening in 2016. I'm excited to let you know that my publisher, Crimson Romance has developed a new bundle called THE BOYS IN BLUE. I'm so very proud to see my name alongside Crimson Romance's finest authors. The fifth book in my Shadow series, IN THE SHADOW OF VENGEANCE is the second story in this collection.

The Boys in Blue doesn't release until January 25, 2016 but it is up for pre-order for only 99 CENTS!

THE BOYS IN BLUE SHORT BLURB:

It's hard to resist a man in uniform, and when it comes to these ten sexy law enforcement heroes, danger never looked so good. From street beats to under the covers, they're arresting, they're provocative, and they're sure to steal your heart!

In February, I have another bundle releasing called Killer Thrillers: Five Edge of Your Seat Romances. The fourth book in my Shadow series, In the Shadow of Pride will will be featured in this bundle. And can I say...is that a sexy cover or what.

If you haven't had a chance to get to know my McNeil brothers, you don't want to miss these two bundles. If you have read the series, well, this is a wonderful way to get to know authors you haven't read. Win win.

Here is wishing everyone a very happy, healthy and exciting 2016! Again, I would love to know how you find balance between your professional life and your personal life. If you are in the same boat as I am, go ahead and share your goals in the comment section below. We can be goal buddies and help keep each other on track.

Hugs to all,

Nancy C. Weeks
