Happy Friday, Everyone!
I have with me today my friend and amazing author, Becky Flade. Since Becky's novel, Goddess of the Hunt is on sale at Amazon for only 99 cents, I thought I would have her on to share the news as well as help us all get to know Becky a little better--meet the woman behind the stories.
Becky, I’m so thrilled to have you here today.
Becky: Nancy thank you so much for having me today, sweetheart. I just love your Shadow series and I’m having a total fan-girl moment being on your blog!
Why thank you! That was such a sweet thing to say. I'm so glad you have enjoyed my wonderful McNeil brothers. As for being a fan-girl, right back at you, girlfriend!!! So, tell me, when did you realize you wanted to be a writer?
Becky: There wasn’t really a moment of realization thing. I just was.
My mom said even as a toddler I’d walk around chatting, playing out the little
scenes in my head, correcting them and doing them over until I was satisfied.
Then in kindergarten I asked my teacher to help me make my first book. My mom
still has it. But I guess that was when everyone knew it was writer and not
actor.
What do you like best about being a writer? What do you like the least?
Becky: I love everything about it, but best thing is when someone reads
it and sees it the way I did, or feels what I did, that’s just about the most
perfect thing in the world. And what I like the least is when I can’t get what
I see and feel to come across just right on to the page. That is the single
most frustrating sensation that is almost impossible to describe.
OH, how I can relate. I get this silly grin on my face when someone tells me how much they enjoyed one of my stories. I think it's because our stories are so much a part of us. And that feeling of not quite hitting the mark can be so totally frustrating. I can spend hours on one paragraph because it just isn't right.
Here an interesting question I would love to know about you. How do you think your life experiences have prepared you for a writing career?
Here an interesting question I would love to know about you. How do you think your life experiences have prepared you for a writing career?
Becky: They haven’t [laugh]. You
have to be prepared to suffer mounds of rejection in exchange for tiny little
bits of modest success that will be peppered with nasty criticism, carelessly
thrown comments that sting like sharp barbs, and then when you least expect it, a shiny moment of perfection. There is nothing in life that can prepare you for
that. Isn’t it fucking great? ;)
Yes....it sure is! And you described our world perfectly! If you had one take away piece of advice for authors, what would it be?
Becky: Never ever read a review.
Which of course means you’ll do the exact opposite and agonize over them, so
make sure you have a fantastic support structure in place – both inside and
outside the home/industry. It’s crucial.
Great advice. It is wonderful having people like you in my corner to give perspective. What genre(s) do you write in?
Why?
Becky: Romance. Erotica. Horror.
Noir. Suspense. Paranormal. And Young Adult, under a penname I refuse to
divulge. Because, so far, those are the stories I’ve come up with.
Tells us about Goddess of the
Hunt. That is one spoken' hot cover, my friend.
Becky: Goddess is an erotic spy
thriller that is currently on sale at Amazon and also up for its first award as
best erotic book of the year.
I have to interrupt here for a moment and say CONGRATULATIONS!!! THAT IS AWESOME.
Becky: But what makes it truly unique, in my opinion, is
that the lead character, the love ‘em and leave ‘em James-Bond-esque character,
is a woman. She’s CIA, educated, intelligent and deadly which she hides beneath
her tan, blond, youthful exterior while kicking ass and breaking hearts all
over Europe. In Hunt, she’s paired up with an undercover MI-6 operative to
infiltrate a terrorist cell in Dublin, Ireland. And, well, it’s not billed as
erotica for nothing. ;)
It's an exciting ride for sure! So, fun question. What is the theme song to this
book?
I got to get out of here. I’ve got a ton to do today –it’s
Halloween! Thank you so much for having me, Nancy!
Oh, it was my pleasure, Becky. I'm so glad you had time to drop by for a quick visit. I hope Goddess of the Hunt is a huge success for you. Please don't be a stranger.
Here is a short blurb for Goddess of the Hun:
Codename Diana
CIA field agent Paige Aster hides a cunning intelligence and lethal skill behind a mask of golden beauty. It serves her well as she moves from one undercover assignment to the next.
Current Mission
Retrieve a stolen United States military defense program from a terrorist cell in Dublin, Ireland, before they trade it to Islamic extremists in exchange for munitions. Her only back up on this time-sensitive mission is a deeply embedded MI-6 operative.
Her Asset
Eoin Fitzpatrick has sacrificed everyone he holds dear to bring these terrorists to justice. He’ll sacrifice Diana, too, if she threatens to compromise his mission or his cover. He has orders to do just that – his agency is only doing hers a favor.
Compromised or Comprising?
Paige expects danger, but welcomes passion—taking her pleasure where and when it’s offered. She’s not prepared for the effect Eoin has on her. Or what happens when she surrenders to him—Paige burns for Eoin but will he leave her burned…
Becky also left behind a short excerpt. Enjoy!
“Is it done? Do you and the others in the house bring in sex partners from time to time?” She straightened and stared at him.
“Yes.” He hissed the answer.
“I’m travelling; you and I meet at a pub and go to your place to hook up. It’s simple and happens all the time. Believable, even.” She thought of Michel and her lips tilted at the corners. Then, casting her eyes over Eoin, she deliberately arched a brow and tucked her tongue in her cheek. “Well, for most people, anyway.”
His lips thinned and the muscles in his cheek ticked as he worked to control the flare of temper. It delighted her. “Fine, we’ll do it your way.” Eoin pushed himself from the chair he’d been perched on and nearly charged for the door. “I’ll be here at seven-thirty tomorrow morning, be ready.”
Paige grabbed his arm as he passed her. “What are you so worked up about? If it goes wrong, you can just leave me hanging and you know it. This costs you nothing, Paddy-boy; it’s my ass on the line.”
He grabbed her shirt and pushed her against the closet door. She didn’t fight it and he had his mouth on her in seconds. His tongue delved and demanded she respond; she arched up into the kiss. Delight, desire, and anger thrummed through her as she both succumbed and made demands of her own. His hands molded to her hips and pinned her between the hard planes of his body and the wall behind her. Then he abruptly pulled away. They stood inches apart; the air crackled around them. Their gazes locked. He opened his mouth, then shook his head and left without a word.
Tie score.
Here is what they are saying about Goddess of the Hunt
There's a great plot line, an interesting twist to the story, and I think although it's not a cliffhanger you'll be left wanting more…Kinky Book Klub

About the Author:
A
city girl, born and bred, I place my stories in and around southeast
Pennsylvania, or at least have a character or two from the area. Home is where
the heart is and I make mine with my very own knight in slightly tarnished
armor. When I’m not busy living my own happily ever after, I’m writing about
someone else’s.
